Rose Turner Park
There are many different parks that exist in Rochester NY. Rose Turner Park may well be one of the more unique locations among them.
The park itself was established in 1968 by the Town of Ogden Parks and Recreation department. There’s little to go on regarding the name Rose Turner, but more research is required.
The park consists largely of trails created by various Boy Scouts as their Eagle Scout project. The names listed on the sign are Joe Marino, Michael Goettelman, Matthew Kostyshak, and Dan Costa.
Multiple trails all fairly well-constructed
The sign shown above lists four trails, although after years of wear it’s difficult to see how many different colors there were on the trees. You can see the different trails below on Google Maps. You can also see a number of points of interest all the way at the top of this post in the virtual tour of the park. Don’t go trying to find anything too interesting, there’s a bench made from a log and a picnic table that are about as exciting as it gets.
Hi! We live accross the street and walk the trail often. We wanted let you know that the trail looks amazing! The wood chips are a great addition. We aren’t sure who cleaned the trail up but they did a great job!
Any information about who rose Turner was?
Is this park still operational? My son tried to go through today and said the sign was down, grass had been planted at the entrance, and it looked all overgrown.
Rose Turner was my Great Grandmother. She donated most of the land that is between Big Ridge rd and the canal, and from union st to Gillette rd to the town before she died. It’s honestly pretty sad that this tiny park is all that is left after lots being sectioned and sold off for profit! She was a wonderful and caring, generous woman… but nobody knows that because this is all that’s left of her legacy!
